Maile discovered yoga in 1996 and immediately she could feel there was something special, something indefinable to it. She continues to explore and experience this sensation in her practice today.
Richard Freeman, whom she met while living in Colorado in 1998, is her primary teacher. She continues to study with him annually, has completed four of his advanced trainings, and assists him at the Yoga Journal Conferences.
While rooted in the tradition of Ashtanga, Maile’s practice has been nourished by many styles and teachers. Balancing tradition with creativity, her classes are an active, yet nurturing synthesis of flowing postures, precision in alignment, breath awareness and yogic philosophy.
In November of 2014, she proudly became the owner of The Mindful Body Yoga & Massage studio in San Francisco.
In addition to practicing yoga, Maile loves hiking, dogs, surfing (warm water preferred!), eating vegetables from her garden, swimming and mangoes.
